I know an answer to this is just to get into Silver - I can - but it's an absolutely punishing grind to go through Bronze with such teammates before you can get to Silver and I simply don't get to play that many games each fortnight. But, I know this won't happen.Īlternatively, I'd love to see the skill based matchmaking that WOWS uses in Brawls being extended to Ranked to balance the teams. ![]() I would personally support a new requirement for ranked that is at least 50 games in the relevant tier at a winrate of 45%+. I'm not saying that players with lower win rates shouldn't be able to compete - more that often players have no care whatsoever for positioning on the minimap (WHY AREN"T YOU SUPPORTING MY 2 vs 5 PUSH AT A CAP?!?!) and ignore calls from members of their team to get back. One ship suiciding themselves has a huge bearing on the game. This is much more frustrating than in Randoms due to the 6v6 format instead of 12v12. I've seen numerous players with limited experience - less that 50 games at tier 8 - and significantly below average win rates participating. Ranked doesn't have any criteria for participation and is the only avenue to Steel for many new players. I agree with the general comments too - I've found it highly frustrating. I got all the rewards in the first week of this sprint, but I keep going back to ranked, simply because I enjoy it (although, I haven't been in a ranked battle for days because of the brawl mission and the availability of 'convoy mode'). And the kind of potatoes you meet in random mode are, fortunately, less likely to go into a ranked battle. ![]() I encounter selfish players far more often random battles, all they do is pad their own game statistics. ![]() In fact the average player in ranked battles is far more motivated to win and there is more teamplay too, because everyone, at the very least intuits that you have to play as a team to win. I don't think the quality of the players in ranked is lower than in random battles. And sometimes the other members of my team are all so good that I am the utter noob compared to them. Sometimes you have 1 or 2 players in the team who can't even do the obvious (like taking a cap when there are no enemy ships around or taking the closest cap at the start of the battle) at other times I have 1 or 2 experienced players who know what to do and how to do it. My own experience is that the quality of the team members varies with each battle.
